SKN | LGT Capital Partners Teams Up With Invesco to Accelerate U.S. Market Entry

LGT Capital Partners has taken a decisive step toward expanding its global footprint by forming a strategic partnership with U.S.-based asset manager Invesco. The collaboration aims to give American wealth managers and retirement investors easier access to private markets—an asset class traditionally dominated by institutional investors. As demand for diversified return sources continues to rise in a shifting interest rate environment, the move signals a timely push into one of the largest investment markets in the world.

Opening the Door to Private Markets

Private market investing—encompassing private equity, private credit, infrastructure, and real assets—has grown rapidly in recent years as investors seek alternatives to public markets and traditional fixed-income products. These investments historically required high minimum commitments and long lock-up periods, leaving everyday investors and many U.S. advisers with limited access.

Through the new partnership, LGT Capital Partners and Invesco plan to develop “multi-alternative private market solutions” designed specifically for the U.S. wealth and retirement sectors. The aim is to provide streamlined access to a diverse mix of private market strategies while maintaining the governance, risk management, and transparency that U.S. regulators and investors expect.

Invesco CEO Andrew Schloss emphasized that private markets can deliver “differentiated sources of return and growth,” especially during economic cycles when traditional asset classes face pressure from fluctuating interest rates or equity market volatility.

Why the Partnership Matters for U.S. Investors

The U.S. retirement market—spanning 401(k)s, IRAs, and institutional retirement plans—is the largest in the world. But despite its size, access to private markets remains limited for most retail savers. By partnering with Invesco, which already maintains deep relationships with advisers, broker-dealers and retirement platforms, LGT Capital Partners can scale its offerings far faster than through a standalone entry into the U.S.

For investors, the collaboration could broaden portfolio options beyond public equities, bonds, deposits and traditional credit products. Private market exposure may also help smooth returns, hedge against inflation, and create long-term value—particularly as digital banking, global competition and regulatory pressures reshape the investment landscape.

Strengthening LGT’s Global Ambitions

Roberto Paganoni, CEO of LGT Capital Partners, described the alliance as “an important step in strengthening our presence in the U.S. market.” The firm, headquartered in Pfäffikon, Switzerland, manages billions in private assets and is known for disciplined investment frameworks and long-term commitments aligned with the Princely House of Liechtenstein, its owner.

Entering the U.S. represents both a strategic milestone and a competitive challenge. The market is saturated with asset managers, yet underserved in accessible private-market solutions—making timing and partnerships critical to success.

Closing Insight

As private markets move closer to mainstream investing, partnerships like the one between Invesco and LGT Capital Partners will shape how the next generation of U.S. investors builds wealth. With retirement savers increasingly seeking diversified, long-term growth opportunities, this alliance positions private markets as a more accessible and integral part of modern portfolio construction. The trend is clear: the future of investing will blend institutional-grade alternatives with the needs of everyday Americans.
