Barclays has increased its valuation outlook for Block, reflecting confidence in the payments company’s latest operating performance and its prospects across two core businesses. The bank raised its price target to $105 from $100 and retained an Overweight rating, indicating that its analysts continue to see potential for further share-price appreciation following the company’s quarterly results.
According to the report, Barclays characterized Block’s latest quarter as another “beat-and-raise” performance. The bank highlighted strong growth across both Square and Cash App, suggesting that the company’s operating momentum extended across its principal business segments rather than depending on a single source of activity.
The revised target represents approximately 20.7% potential upside from Block’s November 4 closing price of $87. However, this figure reflects the difference between Barclays’ valuation target and the cited market price. It is an analyst assessment, not a guaranteed return or an indication that the shares will necessarily reach that level.
By retaining its Overweight rating alongside the higher target, Barclays maintained its positive assessment of Block’s prospects while incorporating the latest quarterly performance into its valuation view.
Block reported adjusted earnings of $1.13 per share for the third quarter, more than double the year-earlier figure and approximately 10% above the analyst estimate of $1.03. Revenue increased 10% year over year to $6.72 billion, exceeding the $6.6 billion estimate, while gross profit rose 22% to $3.24 billion.
The company also raised its full-year 2026 adjusted earnings outlook to $4.15 per share. These results provide important context for Barclays’ assessment, particularly its emphasis on growth across Square and Cash App. Nevertheless, the earnings and guidance figures are Block’s reported results and management outlook, not forecasts independently issued by Barclays.
Block’s Bitcoin business recorded a more complicated performance. Gross profit from the segment declined to $52 million from $104 million a year earlier. Chief Executive Jack Dorsey attributed the reduction primarily to lower fees on certain Bitcoin transactions through Cash App.
Dorsey also reiterated that Bitcoin and stablecoins remain part of Cash App’s expansion strategy. The distinction matters: lower transaction fees may support the company’s broader customer and product strategy, but the immediate effect was a substantial reduction in Bitcoin-related gross profit.
Barclays’ higher target reflects confidence in Block’s quarterly execution and growth across its operating businesses. The next test will be whether the company can sustain earnings expansion while balancing transaction economics, competitive pressures and its broader digital-finance strategy.
For investors evaluating financial technology exposure, the bank’s revised target offers a useful reference point, but the underlying operating performance remains more important than the implied upside alone. Future results will determine whether Block can maintain the momentum that supported Barclays’ more constructive valuation.
