• Barclays has appointed Wee Yee-Yeong as Head of Private Bank Singapore and Head of Private Bank Asia, with the appointment effective later in 2026.
• Yee-Yeong joins from Morgan Stanley with more than two decades of Asia-Pacific wealth-management experience, including leadership and client-coverage roles at Bank of Singapore, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, UBS Wealth Management and Merrill Lynch.
• The appointment follows Barclays’ launch of its Singapore private-banking booking centre, strengthening its stated strategy of serving entrepreneurs, UHNW clients, family offices and internationally connected Asian clients across multiple markets.
Barclays has appointed Wee Yee-Yeong as Head of Private Bank Singapore and Head of Private Bank Asia, according to the bank’s announcement dated September 22, 2026. Based in Singapore, he will lead the private-banking business in Singapore and develop a market-led approach for the wider Asian region.
He is expected to join Barclays later this year and will work with the Private Bank’s broader distribution teams serving international Asian clients. Private Bank India will remain under Adrish Ghosh, who will continue reporting directly to Annabelle Bryde, Head of Private Bank International.
Yee-Yeong succeeds Alexander Harrison in his capacity as Interim Head of Private Bank Singapore.
Yee-Yeong joins Barclays Private Bank from Morgan Stanley, where he currently serves as Chief Executive and Head of Sales for the firm’s Singapore wealth-management business. Barclays says he brings more than 20 years of experience building wealth-management franchises, leading teams and advising ultra-high-net-worth clients across Asia Pacific.
His previous senior leadership and client-coverage positions include Bank of Singapore, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, UBS Wealth Management and Merrill Lynch. The breadth of that experience places his new role within a highly international wealth-management environment involving entrepreneurs, wealth creators and family offices.
Barclays specifically highlights his experience with internationally mobile entrepreneurs, wealth creators and family offices. That background is relevant to clients whose banking, investment and financing requirements span multiple jurisdictions.
The leadership appointment follows Barclays Private Bank’s recent launch of its Singapore booking centre. The bank describes Singapore as a key market and an important gateway to growth across Asia Pacific.
The combination of a local booking centre and dedicated regional leadership gives Barclays additional infrastructure for serving clients whose wealth is connected to multiple Asian and international markets. The bank’s stated objective is to deepen relationships while connecting clients with its broader banking, investment and financing capabilities.
For UHNW clients and family offices, the relevant proposition is the ability to coordinate private banking with corporate and investment-banking capabilities through what Barclays describes as its “one Barclays” model.
Barclays says its Singapore strategy will draw on the combined capabilities of its Private Bank, Corporate Bank and Investment Bank. This includes banking, investments and financing services across the wider group.
That structure is particularly relevant to internationally active entrepreneurs and family offices whose needs may extend beyond conventional wealth management. Financing, investment access and corporate banking relationships can become interconnected as businesses expand across borders or families manage increasingly complex structures.
Annabelle Bryde said Singapore is a key market for Barclays and an important gateway to growth across Asia Pacific. Jaideep Khanna, Barclays’ CEO for Asia Pacific, similarly described the region as strategically important and Singapore as central to the bank’s long-term growth ambitions.
Yee-Yeong said Barclays has a differentiated international proposition and expressed a focus on deepening relationships with entrepreneurs, family offices and globally connected clients across the region.
The supplied announcement does not provide specific targets for assets under management, client acquisition, revenue or profitability from the Singapore expansion. The significance of the appointment should therefore be understood primarily through Barclays’ stated regional strategy and its investment in local private-banking infrastructure.
Barclays is positioning Singapore as an important regional hub for internationally connected wealth. The appointment of a senior wealth-management executive with extensive Asia-Pacific experience, following the launch of the Singapore booking centre, represents another step in that strategy.
For HNWIs and family offices, the development is relevant because cross-border wealth increasingly requires coordination between investment management, financing, corporate banking and international booking capabilities. Barclays’ stated model is designed to connect those services within a single banking group.
Wee Yee-Yeong’s appointment gives Barclays dedicated leadership for its Singapore private bank and broader Asian private-banking business at a time when the group is expanding its local infrastructure. His more than two decades of regional experience and background serving UHNW clients, entrepreneurs and family offices align with Barclays’ stated ambition to deepen international wealth relationships across Asia Pacific. The next measure of the strategy will be its ability to translate the new leadership structure and Singapore booking centre into deeper client relationships and broader use of Barclays’ banking, investment and financing capabilities.
