BNP Paribas and Hello bank! have expanded their digital banking services by making Samsung Pay available to individual customers in France. The integration enables customers with Samsung Galaxy smartphones to use their mobile devices for everyday purchases without requiring a physical payment card.
Through Samsung Wallet, eligible customers can add their BNP Paribas or Hello bank! payment cards and complete contactless transactions directly from their smartphones.
The launch reflects the continued shift toward digital-first banking experiences, as financial institutions increasingly invest in mobile platforms that provide faster, simpler, and more secure payment solutions.
Samsung Pay allows customers to access their payment cards through Samsung Wallet with a simple swipe on compatible Galaxy devices. Users can authenticate transactions using biometric verification, such as fingerprints, or through a personal identification number before completing payments at contactless terminals.
The service enables customers to make contactless purchases without carrying a physical card, including transactions above traditional contactless limits where supported by merchant terminals and payment networks.
For BNP Paribas, expanding mobile payment options strengthens customer engagement by integrating banking services directly into customers’ everyday digital habits.
The Samsung Wallet integration provides customers with additional digital features beyond payment functionality.
Users can participate in the Samsung Rewards loyalty program, earning points through transactions made with Samsung Pay. These points can be exchanged for promotional rewards and discounts from participating retailers or through Samsung’s online platforms.
Samsung Wallet also allows users to store additional digital items, including loyalty cards, selected transportation tickets, and boarding passes, creating a more integrated mobile wallet experience.
The expansion supports broader industry trends toward consolidated digital platforms where consumers can manage payments, identification, and personal services from a single device.
BNP Paribas and Hello bank! emphasized security as a central component of the Samsung Pay experience.
Samsung Wallet uses Samsung Knox Vault technology, which isolates and encrypts sensitive information stored on compatible devices. Payment data is protected through multiple layers of security, including Samsung Knox protection and banking data encryption.
The service also limits exposure of customer payment information by ensuring that full card numbers are not displayed during transactions.
Additionally, transaction details such as retailer information and purchase amounts remain private and are not accessible to Samsung, helping protect customer financial data.
The launch of Samsung Pay aligns with BNP Paribas’ broader strategy of expanding digital banking capabilities and improving customer experiences through technology.
As consumers increasingly adopt mobile payments and digital financial tools, banks are investing in partnerships with technology companies to remain competitive and strengthen customer relationships.
By integrating Samsung Wallet into its banking ecosystem, BNP Paribas continues developing a more flexible and technology-driven financial services platform.
BNP Paribas’ introduction of Samsung Pay for individual customers in France highlights the bank’s continued focus on digital innovation and customer convenience. By combining mobile payment technology, loyalty features, and enhanced security capabilities, the partnership strengthens BNP Paribas’ position in the evolving digital banking landscape. As consumer expectations continue shifting toward seamless mobile financial experiences, technology partnerships are expected to remain an important driver of banking competitiveness and customer engagement.
