Lloyds Bank has removed the previous £15 monthly fee associated with its Premier current account. The change eliminates a charge that was refunded to customers who met the account’s eligibility conditions, making the pricing structure more straightforward.
However, the bank has retained the financial thresholds required to maintain Premier status. Customers must pay in at least £5,000 each month or hold £100,000 in qualifying savings or investments with Lloyds.
The adjustment reflects a change in how the bank presents its premium current account proposition. Rather than relying on a monthly fee that eligible customers could recover, Lloyds is emphasizing account benefits while maintaining requirements designed for customers with higher incomes or substantial financial assets.
The Premier account includes 1% cashback on most debit card purchases, capped at £10 per month, alongside an annual Lifestyle Benefit. Eligible customers can choose from options that include 12 months of Disney+, cinema tickets, Coffee Club and Gourmet Society membership, or an annual magazine subscription.
Additional features include a Bupa Digital Family GP and Wellbeing subscription, exclusive savings and mortgage deals, financial coaching, and round-the-clock support. These benefits remain subject to applicable terms, conditions, limits and eligibility criteria.
For customers comparing premium banking services, the practical value of the package depends on whether they use the benefits regularly. Cashback, lifestyle rewards and preferential financial products may be attractive, but customers should assess them against their actual spending patterns and financial needs.
Lloyds is also promoting a £200 reward for eligible customers who switch their main bank account to a qualifying product. The offer applies to customers opening a new Club Lloyds, Club Lloyds Silver, Club Lloyds Platinum or Lloyds Premier account and completing a full switch through the Current Account Switch Service.
Customers must also transfer at least three active Direct Debits, with the reward subject to the bank’s eligibility conditions.
The offer provides Lloyds with another potential route to attract current-account customers and deepen relationships across its wider banking business. For customers, the reward should be considered alongside ongoing account requirements, service needs and the value of the benefits over time.
Lloyds Bank is part of Lloyds Banking Group, which also owns Halifax and Bank of Scotland. The source reports that Halifax is being absorbed into Lloyds as part of a move toward a single, larger brand, with remaining Halifax branches expected to be rebranded as Lloyds Bank locations or served by nearby Lloyds branches.
This broader consolidation could reshape the group’s physical retail presence and customer experience. The account-fee change, meanwhile, represents a more immediate adjustment to its premium banking proposition.
Removing the £15 monthly fee makes Lloyds Premier simpler to understand, but it does not remove the financial thresholds that determine eligibility. Customers should weigh the account’s cashback, lifestyle benefits and financial services against their own usage and the £5,000 monthly payment or £100,000 qualifying asset requirement.
For Lloyds Banking Group, the change combines a simplified premium account structure with a switching incentive and a broader effort to streamline its retail banking brands.
